Last weekend our church partnered with an evangelistic outreach in a major tourism district of Madrid. The outreach group is a multi-denomination organization that does open air evangelism almost every night in Sol. They request volunteer help from churches throughout Madrid, and our church signed up to help once a month. The group interchanges between two minute testimony’s, music, puppet dramas, etc. They also hand out tracts to those interested.
For my first night, I (Chad) intended to observe from the back and hand out tracks to passersby. However, the group needed a couple extra two minute testimonies, so I volunteered. I didn’t feel comfortable giving a testimony in Spanish, but there was an Englishman willing to translate for me.
Most of the time, Spaniards are not interested in these presentations. Romanians, Africans, and South Americans will often hang around to converse afterwards. I had a good conversation with a Romanian man named Alex. Please pray for him.
